Fornells

A smart, sophisticated and modern holiday complex on the north coast of Menorca, Playa de Fornells is perfect for holidaymakers looking for a relaxing break in the sun. The attractively-designed resort features a number of hotels and holiday apartments, set by the beautiful bay of Cala Tirant. The resort lies close to the fishing town of Fornells, which is well worth a visit in itself for its tranquil beauty and well-developed sailing and watersports facilities. The sheltered bay offers perfect conditions for windsurfing, sailing and waterskiing. Fishing is also a popular choice not only among the locals, but also for visitors to the town. As Fornells itself does not boast a beach, Playa de Fornells is a great base for those who want to combine a trip to the town with plenty of opportunity for sunbathing. The soft sands here are perfect for those looking to play beach sports, swim or just top up their tans and the cooling North wind means that temperatures don’t become too stifling even in the height of summer.

Playa de Fornells is better suited to families and couples than to groups of partiers, but there are decent facilities within the resort itself. A handful of shops and supermarkets mean that self-caterers can easily stock up on groceries, while there are three restaurants in the resort as well as plenty of cafes and restaurants within hotel complexes. In nearby Fornells, there are abundant opportunities to sample freshly-caught seafood, with paella being a particularly popular choice. There isn’t a huge amount of opportunity to dance the night away in Playa de Fornells, but there are a couple of late-opening bars for those who like to make a night of it.
